Do you remember back at the beginning of January when I went and shot the last men’s basketball game at Mac Court? Well here is why the University of Oregon vacated the old facility. Meet Matthew Knight Arena. The place is just gorgeous. From the moment it comes into view outside to the time you finally decide to take your seat, it is unreal. It reminds me a lot of the Rose Garden just a little smaller. There are two, count ‘em, two Duck Stores inside the arena and tons of food and beverage options. Still no beer on the concourse although not sure about up in the club level. I now have a three opinions on the hardwood itself. First from pictures, I didn’t like that it was non-symmetrical, second watching it on FSN, I just thought it looked awful, and third in person. Wow. Couldn’t love it more.
Playing against the No. 19 University of Washington Huskies on Saturday the place got crazy loud too. The new arena brings a little bit of Autzen into it. The win for the Ducks was huge, which concluded a sweep of the Washington schools. However I think my favorite part of the new arena was not having to sit behind a pillar!
